“Flourish in Faith, Hope and Love while Realising all our Gifts and Talents”
Letter from Board Chair - Amanda Matich
12 March 2015
Dear Parents & Caregivers
2015 has started out well and looks like it will be a big year for St Josephs's as the school builds on the gains made in 2014. Our roll has significantly increased this year and is now at 69, up from 44 at the start of 2014.
The Board welcomes Father Gerry Mascarina who is our new Parish Priest following Father Alfredo's recent move to Auckland.
The Catholic Schools Office 2014 Annual Report for the school has been received and is a very pleasing and positive review of the progress made in 2014. The CSO is "impressed with how far the school has come in such a short period of time. The Principal, Staff and Board of Trustess are all to be commended for their hard work and dedication to St Joseph's".
The Board continues with policy review and development. This is an on-going project for the Board and is taking considerable time for the Board to thoroughly revise and update the policies and procedures for the school.
ERO will be in the school shortly as part of the Arotake Paetawhiti review process it is undertaking with the school. The full Board will be meeting with ERO on this visit.
The Board wishes to thank the PTA for the significant donation it made to the school camp funding. This assisted the school in enabling the cost of the camp to be very affordable for parents. The PTA's efforts are greatly appreciated by the Board.
The Board thanks parents for their support of the school and invites them to join the Facebook page and visit the school website to keep up to date with events in the school. Of particular importance from the Boards perspective is for parents and caregivers to be fully involved and participate in the consultation evenings that are held from time to time. This is your opportunity to be involved in your children's learning.
If at any time you have any questions for the Board these can be left with Annie at the school office as she is our staff representative on the Board.
